A Nest to Roost In, Ch. 10
Chapter Ten
DECEMBER 31ST, 1992
"Perfect, Thorne, perfect," said the disembodied voice in a harsh purr, as soon as his feet hit the floor.
Thorne startled, looking around the seemingly-deserted room. A chuckle sounded somewhere.
"I knew I could count on you."
Out of the shadows, a diminutive figure with another, smaller figure upon its hand approached. Thorne smiled, recognizing the figures as his employer.
"It took you to get me out of retirement," he commented. "Hello, Sugar."
"Sir." The larger figure curtly nodded.
"Sugar, get the dough, willya?"
The female handed over a fat envelope to Thorne, who peeked inside.
"Holiday pay, huh?"
"Yeah. I trust I can count on your services in the future."
"You know where to find me."
